Getting the Best out of Your Supervisor (November 23 @ 1:30 pm)
Looking for advice to make your relationship with your supervisor stronger? Join us for a panel discussion with current grad students and associate dean Professor Nathan Hall to learn about the importance of the supervisory relationship and the impact it can have on your graduate experience. In this session, you will be introduced to different supervisory styles, learn strategies on how to handle disputes and misunderstandings, and hear how to distinguish between your responsibilities and those of your supervisor. You will also be given the opportunity to ask questions and engage in discussion.

Learning outcomes:

- Recognize the impact your supervisory relationship can have on your graduate student experience
- Identify differing supervisory styles
- Locate on-campus resources relevant to supervision
- The panel is held twice a year: once in the fall semester and once in the winter semester.

IMPORTANT: Students must register with their official McGill email address in order for the registration to be valid.

No-Show Fee Alert: There are no fees associated with SKILLSETS webinars; however, registering for an online event is a commitment to attend. If you can no longer attend, make sure to cancel your registration by either clicking "cancel" on the email confirmation you receive upon registration, or by filling out our cancellation form (https://www.mcgill.ca/skillsets/cancellation-no-show-fee). Otherwise, a $25 No-Show Fee will be charged to your McGill student account. Exceptions will only be made for students in the case of emergencies or “extenuating circumstances” (https://www.mcgill.ca/skillsets/policies).
